"Hi, I'm Lane, and I founded Sunshine Brewing Company to create more than just a brewery. I wanted to bring a fresh perspective on craft beer to Lake Mills—a place where people could gather, connect, and simply enjoy the good things in life, like exceptional brews and delicious food. That vision has come to life in our downtown brewery, and we'd love for you to be a part of it.

But getting here wasn't always easy.  In fact, Sunshine Brewing Company might not be here today if it weren't for my oldest daughter, Gracelyn. She started with us back in 2019, lending a hand in the kitchen. When the COVID shutdowns hit, we had to make some tough decisions, and Gracelyn and I ended up running the entire place ourselves.  It was during those long days that we developed the Mexican-inspired menu we're known for today, drawing inspiration from my Southern California roots and the family restaurant I worked in growing up. (And let's be honest, who doesn't love tacos and nachos?)

Gracelyn's hard work and dedication throughout those challenging times were instrumental in keeping Sunshine Brewing Company afloat. Today, she's our amazing General Manager and co-owner, handling everything from scheduling and payroll to marketing and events—and she still finds time to jump behind the bar and connect with our customers.  

Of course, great beer is at the heart of everything we do, and that's where Caleb, our brewmaster and co-owner, comes in.  I'd been homebrewing for years before opening Sunshine, but I knew we needed a true brewing expert to take our beers to the next level.  We were struggling to perfect our IPA recipe due to our hard water, so I reached out to my homebrewing friends for advice and was introduced to Caleb. He came in, analyzed our water, and suggested some key changes that transformed our IPA into what is now our flagship True West.

I knew right away that Caleb was the brewer I had been looking for. He was hesitant to join at first, but once he embraced the Sunshine vision, there was no looking back. He insisted on one condition, though: investing in an RO system to overcome our water challenges.  It was the best decision we ever made. Caleb's a perfectionist with an unparalleled understanding of the brewing process, hop and malt chemistry, and everything in between.  Our beers just keep getting better and better with every batch he creates.

And that's where you, our amazing customers, come in. The missing piece of the puzzle is our community. While we try to give back through efforts such as Sunrise Reach, it's you sharing your time here, meeting new people, making new friendships, and creating memories that truly make us who we are.
